- Another World is Possible - 99% of the 1%

STOP participated in the Thematic Social Forum held January 23 – 27 in Porto Alegre, attending were representatives from over 38 countries on five continents.

On January 27 engineer Alexander Frascari presented in the Legislative Assembly of Porto Alegre the lecture "The Liberation of the People of Pathology of Power," which showed that humanity (99%) is dominated by the pathological in power the 1% of the population and that 1% has created a sick structure impeding the rights of the human being.

He also outlined possible solutions to the critical situations reversal: trilogical businesses that have been in place for over 30 years and new sustainable technology, the Keppe Motor, which will allow human beings to develop a fairer and more balanced planet for all.

From January 24 - 29, the cities of Porto Alegre, Canoas, Novo Hamburgo and São Leopoldo will jointly host the Thematic Social Forum, bringing together social activists and governmental and non-governmental representatives from Brazil and around the world to discuss the "The Crisis of Capitalism and Social and Environmental Justice.” This meeting will serve as a preparation for the Peoples’ Summit, which is scheduled to run concurrently with the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20, scheduled for June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro.

The Stop the Destruction of the World Association, which is commemorating 20 years of activities, will offer a presentation at the Thematic Social Forum 2012. The event will take place in the Alberto Pasqualini Room at the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Sul, at 1:00 pm, on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.

Presentation: Liberation of the People – The Psychopathology of Power
This lecture is based on the foundational book for social activists, Liberation of the People. Since its publication in New York in 1986, Norberto Keppe’s groundbreaking book has motivated social movements around the world. In fact, the slogan, “We are the 99%” – the rallying cry of the Occupy Wall Street movement – was inspired by this book. “We are the 99%, controlled in a sick manner by 1%” (page 47); “We can create an indestructible force, because we represent ninety-nine percent of humanity” (page 78); “Ninety-nine percent of humankind is comprised of humiliated and offended individuals; the other one percent are their enemies, the arrogant. Why do we allow this insignificant minority to crush us?” (p.202).
